Paper and wood products manufacturers are responsible for making products essential to everyday life for people across the country and around the world. Those products are made thanks to the nearly 900,000 men and women working in the forest products industry. Our industry’s importance is evident in being among the top 10 manufacturing sectors in 47 states. With such a large impact on our nation’s economy, Members of Congress have come together in forming a caucus to inform their fellow lawmakers of the value the paper and packaging industry provides in their states and districts.
A Paper and Packaging Caucus was established in the House of Representatives in 2013. This year, a Paper and Packaging Caucus will be available for membership under bipartisan leadership in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
In the 114th Congress, Reps. Reid Ribble (R-Wis.) and Gwen Graham (D-Fla.) will lead the House caucus; and Sens. John Boozman (R-Ark.) and Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) will lead the new Senate caucus.
AF&PA thanks them for their leadership in the caucus. It will help shine a light on an industry that affects every single American each day by providing products we need to live fuller, more productive lives and by providing family-wage jobs in hundreds of rural communities across the country.
